Call for Experts
Join the AU–EU Climate Change and Sustainable Energy (CCSE) Expert Working Group
The African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) are inviting expressions of interest from experts to join the Climate Change and Sustainable Energy (CCSE) Expert Working Group, established in 2017 under the AU–EU High Level Policy Dialogue (HLPD) on Science, Technology and Innovation.
The CCSE Working Group supports the implementation of the AU–EU Research and Innovation (R&I) Partnership on Climate Change and Sustainable Energy (CCSE) by providing strategic advice on R&I priorities, recommendations to strengthen institutional cooperation and the science-policy dialogue between AU and EU, and contributing to the implementation and monitoring of the 2028-2034 CCSE Roadmap and all relevant actions in the area of “Green Transition” of the 10 year- AU-EU Innovation Agenda (2023-2033).
Current call
The Working Group is seeking 9 new experts:
- 6 experts from African Union countries
- 3 experts from European Union countries
Experts will be selected to ensure balanced representation across disciplines, regions, gender and sectors.
We are looking for experts in the fields of energy and climate, particularly with expertise in the following areas:
- Climate change adaptation, resilience and disaster risk reduction
- Climate services and early warning systems
- Climate Resilient Development, climate modelling
- Renewable energy
- Energy efficiency
- Grid management & electrification
- Scenario analysis and decarbonisation pathways
- Digitalisation of the energy system
- Capacity building and international cooperation
- Entrepreneurship policy interventions
Experts from academia, research organisations, government, civil society, industry and innovation ecosystems are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Nationality from either EU or AU Member State
- Recognised expertise in climate change and/or sustainable energy
- Experience with African and/or European governmental institutions
- Experience in international R&I cooperation
- Interest in supporting AU–EU collaboration
- Ability to contribute actively to Working Group meetings and activities
Members participate in their personal capacity and are not representatives of their organisations or governments. Participation is voluntary. Travel costs for in-person meetings are covered when applicable.

- Geographical balance
