Raising Voices is a nonprofit organization working toward the prevention of violence against women and children. Our work strives to influence the power dynamics shaping relationships particularly between women and men, girls and boys, and adults and children.

Raising Voices seeks a feminist leader for a new Executive Director to be based in Kampala, Uganda.

The candidate will be a dynamic, experienced, values-driven leader ready to lead all aspects of Raising Voices.    For the first six months, the ED will report to the co-founders, thereafter, the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Lead the strategic visioning, conceptual development, planning and monitoring of Raising Voices’ work.
Oversee implementation of the organization’s strategic plan, operational budget and funding strategy.
Coordinate a leadership team of Operations Director and Program Directors.
Foster a vibrant and supportive environment that promotes personal responsibility, quality work and commitment to Raising Voices goals and values.
Operational Management:
Oversee all the operational and administrative functions of the organization.
Ensure timely, accurate and quality financial and narrative reporting in compliance with contractual obligations.
Ensure operationalization and adherence to all Raising Voices’ policies and procedures.
Internal and External Relations:
Lead all fundraising efforts.
Represent Raising Voices at processes and events in Uganda and beyond.
Manage positive and productive partner relationships with funders, development actors and institutions.
Initiate, actively participate in and oversee internal processes for Raising Voices staff that build skills and commitment to organizational values.
Demonstrate effective, values-driven leadership to all Raising Voices staff.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree or equivalent
At least 15 years work experience with at least 5 years in executive leadership role, experience in Uganda/East Africa an advantage.
Competencies:
Commitment to and experience in leading with feminist values and shaping and sustaining a diverse, inclusive organizational culture.
Demonstrated leadership in the fields of VAW and/or VAC prevention and feminist movements.
Proven track record of fundraising and all aspects of donor relationship management.
Financial management and oversight of large budgets.
Strategic visioning and planning with experience growing an organization while ensuring national and global relevance.
Proven track record of publications (academic or popular) and engagement in international fora.
Personal integrity and transparency, serving as a role model for others.
Effective communicator with enthusiasm and willingness to champion Raising Voices’ values.
Keen appreciation of quality and standards with ability to take responsibility for delivering results.
Remuneration
Competitive remuneration package commensurate with experience and skill.
