The Development Action Group (DAG) is a leading non-profit, non-governmental organisation. DAG’s mission is to create, implement and support community-centred developments in order to address economic, social and spatial imbalances.

The Development Action Group seeks to appoint an Executive Director to lead the organisation. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors and takes overall responsibility for implementing DAG’s strategic direction and operations.

The Development Action Group seeks to appoint an Executive Director to lead the organisation to be based in Cape Town.

Reports to: Board of Directors and takes overall responsibility for implementing DAG’s strategic direction and operations.

Package: Negotiable

Commencement date: 01 July 2021

The following requirements will be considered:
A relevant degree or diploma related to the built environment, urban land economics, social development, training or management;
At least 8 – 12 years relevant work experience;
Proven leadership ability and a strong track record in organisational management;
Experience in the non-profit sector;
A proven track record fundraising locally and abroad;
A sound understanding of the South African development context, the Western Cape socio-political climate;
A sound understanding of trends and policies shaping urban development, human settlements and community development;
A sound understanding of government’s mandate and the policy environment at all levels of government;
Strong cognitive and interpersonal skills;
Excellent English communication skills with the ability to work in a multi-lingual environment.
