Adjunct AHRI Faculty Member Dr Collins Iwuji is seeking to recruit a highly motivated, exceptional social scientist to join his group as a Postdoctoral Fellow.

Position description

The Postdoctoral Fellow will work on a project that aims to investigate the increased vulnerability created by drought, in order to understand the difficult trade-offs HIV-positive individuals face daily between health care utilisation and pursuit of economic sustenance which is hypothesised to impact engagement in HIV care and treatment.

The fellow will be based at the Somkhele research campus of the Africa Health Research Institute, South Africa. The successful candidate will benefit from an interdisciplinary and integrated network of innovative international and local research collaborations. The fellow will be afforded numerous opportunities and support to launch their own independent research careers through the attainment of fellowship funding.

Background and experience

  • A PhD in any of the following areas: psychology, sociology, anthropology
  • Experience of working in HIV or environmental health
  • Fluency in isiZulu is an advantage

Duration

The fellowship is for 12 months.
