Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following positions tenable in the Ministry of Health.
JOB SUMMARY
The incumbent will be responsible in assisting the Director of Estate Management with the
provision of estate services in all Health Service Areas (HAS’s) and to be his Deputy Director with specific responsibility for the specification. utilization, maintenance and procurement of medical equipment and furniture.
MAIN DUTIES
1. Prepares and maintain an inventory of all equipment and furniture and monitor and record their condition and state of repair.
2. Ensures that equipment and furniture are kept in good functional order and ensure that repairs are carried out in a timely, technically sound, and cost effective fashion.
3. Prepares and ensures strict adherence to Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programmes for medical equipment and furniture in all HSA’s.
4. Liaise with facility managers and staff and translate their requirements and observations regarding the use, functionality and utilization of equipment.
5. Develops, in collaboration with other departments in the Ministry, standard specifications for medical equipment at different facility levels.
6. Prepares together with the Health Facility Planner, Facility Development Plans for each HSA with specific emphasis on the specifications, preliminary estimates and timing for the procurement of new and the rehabilitation of existing equipment.
7. Develops and agrees with different departments in the ministry
8. Assist the Director with the preparation of the annual budget for the maintenance and procurement of medical equipment and furniture.
9. Brief and monitor the performance of consultants charged with the preparation of specifications and tender documents for the procurement and the installation of equipment and furniture.
10. Supervise the delivery and installation of new equipment and furniture.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in
Bio-Medical Engineering
Or
National Diploma in Bio-Medical Engineering PLUS Five (5) years working experience with the procurement and maintenance of medical equipment.
