Job title: Environmental & Social Safeguard Specialist – Technical Assistance – Lesotho
Qualifications and skills
- Must have BA /or BSc degree with specialisation in Social sciences; Environmental sciences; or similar.
- Master’s Degree in Environmental and Social Assessment; Environmental Science; Environmental Engineering; Environmental Planning or similar related discipline would be an added advantage.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Ability to read and write Sesotho is an added advantage.
General professional experience
- Minimum fifteen (15) years professional experience in the environmental and social field.
- Minimum ten (10) years’ experience as environmental and/or social expert in infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of World Bank and EIB/EU Environment & Social safeguards policies would be an added advantage.
Specific professional experience
- Must have experience (minimum 2 projects) as environmental and/or social expert in Environmental and Social Safeguards due diligence process and/or monitoring activities of infrastructure projects.
- Experience in social screening activities as well as reviewing of grievance readdress mechanisms would be an added advantage;
- Experience in Environmental and social risk categorization would be an added advantage; Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in the SADC Region.
