for the following vacant position tenable in the Ministry of Environment and Forestry:
Position: Environment Assistant
Department: Environment
Grade: E
Responsible To: Assistant Environment Officer
Location: Lesotho Northern Parks
No. of Positions: One (1)
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Corporal Ranger, the Environment Assistant is responsible for conducting patrols, ensuring the safety of park personnel and property, educating and guiding visitors, enforcing park rules, supporting wildlife management, and participating in habitat assessments and maintenance activities.
MAIN DUTIES
- Patrols park grounds and performs traffic control
- Enforces park rules and educates visitors
- Provides first aid assistance to visitors
- Assists in wildlife management operations
- Prepares and supports camping visitors with accommodation
- Conducts guided tours for visitors
- Delivers environmental education to school children and guests
- Ensures visitor safety and provides directions/information
- Assists in park infrastructure maintenance and repairs
- Participates in habitat assessments and wildlife surveys
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma in Environmental Sciences, Nature Conservation, Wildlife Management, or a related qualification
OR - Certificate in Environmental Sciences, Nature Conservation, Wildlife Management, or a related qualification plus two (2) years of relevant work experience
