Health Systems Trust is an innovative non-profit organisation working to strengthen ongoing development of comprehensive health systems in southern Africa.Females Rising through Education Support and Health (FRESH).

The Health Systems Trust (HST) wishes to appoint a Facilitator for the ‘Females Rising through Education Support and Health’ (FRESH) programme based in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal.

The FRESH programme conducts basic scientific research, combined with a skills development/ empowerment programme for young female study participants. FRESH research is primarily focused on HIV and other women’s health issues. The FRESH skills development programme focuses on job readiness, women’s issues, and empowerment modules. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract position, renewable based on funding.

Responsibilities:
Facilitate curriculum (women’s health, female empowerment, etc.) to groups of 20 – 40 young women.
Deliver the material in a way that is accessible and inspirational to the young women.
Work with colleagues involved in curriculum development, from calendar to content creation, to evaluation – ensure that best ideas/practices are included.
Work with Clinical Director and give feedback on all curriculum content to ensure it is tailored to the participants and meets their needs.
Supervise and provide feedback to Classroom Assistants.
Provide classroom updates at weekly staff meeting (Wednesdays).
Records keeping and stocktaking.
Mentor individual participants for the period of enrolment.
Organise, plan and participate in events and partner visits.
Actively contribute to planning and implementation as member of the Career Committee.
Educational Requirements and Experience:
Grade 12 certificate
A qualification in Education/Community Development or Education/Psychology/Counselling/Facilitation
Minimum 1 year experience as a Trainer or Facilitator
Experience creating lesson plans
Experience working with teens/young adults
Experience working in HIV/AIDS care
Fluency in English and IsiZulu
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Knowledge of women’s health issues
Added advantage –Trauma/abuse counselling experience
REMUNERATION
A salary package commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications and in line with HST’s Job Grading System will be offered.
