Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and dedicated English Language and Literature Teacher with experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE and/or the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop strong language, literary analysis, and critical thinking skills while fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.
Key Tasks And Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality English Language and Literature lessons aligned with the IGCSE and/or IBDP curriculum.
- Prepare students for internal and external assessments with effective instructional strategies.
- Differentiate teaching to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Monitor student progress, provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate assessment records.
- Create an inclusive, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching practices into lessons.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum development and school improvement initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders regarding student progress.
- Participate in extracurricular activities, professional development, and school events.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in English Language and Literature in English.
- Recognized teaching qualification.
- Proven experience teaching English Language and Literature in English at IGCSE level or its equivalent is mandatory.
- Must be conversant with the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP), as the successful candidate will be required to teach English Language and Literature at both IGCSE and IBDP levels.
- Knowledge of how to teach English as a second language (ESOL) to students with special needs.
- Strong understanding of inquiry-based and student-centred learning approaches.
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve academic excellence.
Desirable Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Education, English Language and Literature in English.
- IB and/or Cambridge professional development certification.
- Experience teaching in an international school setting.
- Familiarity with educational technology and digital learning platforms.
