Ownership and key responsibilities :

Engineering Site Leader represent Engineering on the site and to the whole Engineering Community

Job Purpose :

  • Represent Engineering Functions on site Represent and drive the transformation initiatives on-site
  • Ensure HSE on site Ensure proper working condition for engineering (at WSA and FIPSA)
  • Act as representative to both customer and suppliers. Regular engagement with Wabtec sister companies and team members to address and resolve engineering and productions issues.
  • Attend local leadership team meetings and spin-off meetings as engineering representative.
  • Represent Engineering leadership for the ENG community, Regularly collect feedback from staff on-site
  • Be present on site and informally communicate with staff to identify latest concerns
  • Act as go-to-person for all site incidents and concerns
  • Act as figurehead and role model Reporting. Report the cost of operating engineering to management (incl. budget, overhead need, etc.)
  • Act as interface for site-related engineering issues, audits, quality plan, etc.
  • Establish clear view on site-specific transformation plans and report on progress and critical risks
  • Support identification of capacity and capability issues and mitigation plans
  • He/She can directly lead some specific domains like the local laboratory, localization plan or assesments.

Main responsibilities :

  • Leading a team locally at FIPSA and WSA to identify and raise design/ engineering concerns raised by the customer, supplier or in house production teams;
  • Directly responsible for all engineering processes, certification of engineering processes, engineering tooling, organizational- and people development;
  • Responsible for delivery of design- and continuous improvement projects;
  • Leadership in technology development; both in production technologies as in product- and material technologies;
  • Wing to wing ownership and tracking of Engineering projects that requires a resolution.
  • Co-ordinate with sister companies across the globe to find solutions to issues the business faces
  • Develop templates/PPTs and spreadsheets to track reports and stages to identify and resolve issues.
  • Work directly with the customer and PM to gather information on the prescribed issue and map out a work stream to find a closure for the open issues.
  • Develop FISH Bone or problem statement analysis to clearly define the problem to the business and work with Engineering teams to find a solution and report weekly or as required to the broader audience.
  • Support in EHS compliance activities at WSA/ FIPSA
  • Develop a Tracking and method to ensure timely closures to engineering or localization requirements are met.
  • Support Local team with supplier visits/ engagement, QC recommendations, to achieve localization requirements.
  • Weekly and monthly reporting to the local and global management teams or the customer as required.
  • Assist with maintenance planning of the plant equipment tied to our global teams standard practices. – help develop a maintenance plan and ensure that the system is functioning.

Job requirements :

  • BTech in Engineering (or equivalent or studying towards one)
  • Experience in a regulated industry with high quality standards;
  • 5 Years Experience as an Engineering Leader/Manager in a discrete, high mix, low volume assembly environment;
  • Excellent English language ability (written and spoken);
  • Ability to work effectively in varying teams and as an individual;
  • Process oriented and well organized;
  • Experience in developing professional standards in engineering team(s);
  • Organizational development in engineering team(s)
