Our Engineers support internal and external manufacturing operations remain operational, continuously improve and innovate. With our extensive range of facilities and environments, our Engineers have opportunities across many diverse areas including Biological, Chemical, Automation, Capital Projects, Maintenance, Safety, Process Development, Technical Services, Utilities and Validation.


Role:

Support the Test Facility Manager to maintain and improve the infrastructure of the Malelane Research Unit. Be responsible for the maintenance and calibration of machinery and laboratory equipment.


Activities:

  • In close collaboration with the site health & safety officer,

  • supervise and manage all machines on site in terms of the General Machine Regulations Section 2(1),

  • be responsible for the on-site maintenance team

  • (the on-site maintenance team is responsible for minor repairs, small building projects, small welding projects, upkeeping of fences etc.),

  • be responsible to manage and supervise all activities by contractors involved in any building or repairs,

  • provide solutions to minor engineering problems and

  • ensure the maintenance of all laboratory equipment in compliance of laboratory standards.


Minimum requirements:

Have a strong technical background

Fluent in English

Basic computer literacy skills

Competent in welding, and have a basic technical understanding of machinery.

Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and experience in supervising teams would be an advantage.

A qualification in any Trade Test for artisanship would be an advantage.

Fluency in Afrikaans or siSwati would be an advantage.
