ENGINEERING MANAGER POSITION (PATERSON BAND EL)
Letšeng seeks to engage a qualified professional with appropriate skills and aptitude to fill the position of Engineering Manager (Paterson Band EL).
PURPOSE:
To manage the Engineering Department at Letšeng Mine and responsible for overall site asset care, effective management of all Built-infrastructure, Utilities plants, maintenance of mine-wide Engineering standards, oversight on engineering projects and management of the company’s Capital works program. Reports to the Head of Operations and is a member of the Management Committee (Manco).
MAIN OUTPUTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide sound technical, Engineering and managerial input to support decision making in the Management committee of the mine operations
• Responsible for the overall company capital program, from initiation, review, and prioritisation of identified projects, through to Executive approval and reporting on capital projects
• Accountable for the total budget activity (manpower and financial aspects) and performance of the Engineering department; responsible for operational, capital and management reporting
• Ensure implementation of all project works in accordance with accepted engineering standards, project implementation methodologies and internal procedures for management of projects and manages the performance of external contracted service providers
• Has total responsibility and accountability for allocation of departmental resources, for employee training and development needs, and for effective implementation of the performance management system for the total staff complement of employees in the department
• Hold and maintain overall custodianship of all technical records, technical drawings and statutory Engineering records of all built infrastructure, as well as modifications and upgrades
• Accountable for effective implementation of all aspects of the Safety, Health and Environment (HSE) and Risk management programs and systems for the department
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related discipline
• 8 – 10 Years post-graduate experience in the role of Engineering Manager, Technical Manager or similar level of combined technical and managerial experience
• Qualifications in project management, contract management or management development
• Registered (or eligible for registration) as a professional engineer with a recognized Engineering body
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
• People management skills and ability to thrive under pressure.
• Sound proven competency in the application of engineering management standards and practices relevant to the industry;
• Working practical knowledge of the principles for management of capital works program; review, prioritisation and allocation of capital;
• Working knowledge and understanding of the Procurement principles and procedures, different forms of contract and the application thereof in the procurement of major works contracts and capital works;
• Advanced Communication, Analytical, Administrative, Contract Management, Coordination, Follow-up, Incident Management, Project Management, Reporting and Systems Management.
