  2. To deliver and improve high-quality human resources administration systems including recruitment, professional development, performance management, recognition, leadership development, succession planning and talent management.

Overview

Help Lesotho (www.helplesotho.org) is a rapidly growing NGO working in northern and central Lesotho. Help Lesotho empowers over 15,000 vulnerable children, youth and grandmothers annually through its psychosocial support, education and leadership development programs and partnerships. Help Lesotho is seeking an outstanding, highly-personal candidate for the new position of Employee Engagement Coordinator (EEC) to motivate, develop, track and support Help Lesotho’s 28 full-time employees and 10+ professional interns.

Job Description

  • Manage HR administration:
    • Assist the Deputy Country Director as required in matters pertaining to staff training, development and well-being;
    • Operationalize and improve Help Lesotho’s Human Resources Information System (HRIS) to:
      • Track all contract renewal times;
      • Coordinate all staff annual evaluations;
      • Document all staff leave, time sheets, travel and days-in-lieu;
      • Maintain a current org chart;
      • Conduct annual salary review with data from analogous organizations in Lesotho and make recommendations.
  • Manage compliance:
    • Be completely conversant with all policies and procedures and with Lesotho labour laws;
    • Ensure all staff are fully familiar with HR policies and procedures, and updates;
    • Propose new policies and procedures and conduct associated training required for compliance;
    • Report quarterly to management on all aspects of HR and proactively identify HR issues that need early intervention;
  • Manage employee learning and development:
    • Ensure all staff have a three-year professional development plan, reviewed and updated annually;
    • Meet quarterly with each supervisor to help plan activities related to staff development plans to support their movement through it;
    • Coordinate professional development and learning activities;
    • Support the program officer in charge of the Professional Internship (PI) Program;
      • Coordinate and track PI training, providing clear feedback with action plans for remediation or development;
      • Develop and implement PI evaluations in conjunction with PI supervisors;
    • Develop processes to help support staff (cleaners, guards, gardeners, etc.) feel informed, included and engaged.
  • Manage Help Lesotho’s online Learning Management System (LMS) implementation:
    • Be thoroughly familiar with the LMS platform;
    • Propose and help develop additional materials for the LMS; and
    • Regularly review staff progress and address any challenges they have with the material.
  • Staff support:
    • Be familiar with each program, its staff and their challenges;
    • Ensure staff who are assigned temporary responsibilities (i.e. covering parental leave) are properly trained and supported;
    • Evaluate implementation of standardized training module facilitation across all staff and programs.
    • Work with the Senior Psychosocial Support (PSS) Officer to:
      • Be initial front line for staff conflict resolution;
      • Identify and support staff who are stressed, ill, or otherwise in need of special support; and
    • Source, circulate and discuss meaningful resources to support staff personally and professionally.
  • Team building:
    • Identify and operationalize ways for staff to interact to build an ever stronger team; and
    • Develop and implement new staff orientation and on-boarding program with follow-up.

Qualifications

  1. Passionately support Help Lesotho’s values, mission and organizational culture of collaboration and teamwork;
  2. Outgoing and innovative with a high degree of psychological insight and interpersonal skills;
  3. Demonstrated experience working in human resources for minimum three years;
  4. Demonstrated experience with data input, management and reporting;
  5. Demonstrated success in conflict resolution techniques and conciliation strategies;
  6. Knowledge of Lesotho labour law;
  7. Full mastery of Microsoft Office Suite 2016;
  8. Tertiary degree or certificate in human resources, leadership, organizational development or education; and
  9. Valid driver’s license.
