ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE POSITION OF ELECTRICITY INSPECTOR
The Lesotho Electricity and Water Authority (LEWA) was established in terms of the Lesotho Electricity Authority Act No.12 of 2002 as amended, to regulate the electricity supply industry and urban water and sewerage services in the country.
LEWA invites applications from suitably qualified Basotho for the following position:
Job Title: Electricity Inspector (EI)
Responsible to: Performance Analyst – Electricity
Grade: 3
Location: Maseru
Job Purpose:
Under the general supervision of the Performance Analyst Electricity, the Electricity Inspector shall be responsible for carrying out inspections and test plant and equipment of electricity supply industry service providers regulated by the Authority.
Key Result Areas
- Inspect and test equipment for regulatory compliance
- Examine generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure of electricity licensed operators.
- Take or seize any documentation for the person under investigation as directed by the Performance Analyst Electricity
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Carry out inspection of documents, information, plant or other materials on licensees’ premises to ensure compliance with the terms of their license or other laws and regulations;
- Assist in monitoring technical performance of licensees and recommend appropriate levels of technical performance;
- Carry out inspections on generation, transmission and distribution of electricity by licensed operators;
- Carry out regular inspections and test, where required and as directed by the Authority for purposes;
- Check for technical compliance standards set by the Authority on electricity equipment to ensure public health and safety or the environment;
- Carry out complaints-related investigations;
- Maintain files and inspections reports regarding findings
- Carry out power quality compliance audit on Transmission, Distribution and Low Voltage networks;
- Perform such other functions as the Authority determines

Education and Experiences
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering with at least three (3) years’ experience working in electrical generation, transmission or distribution industry.
- A Driver’s License is a pre-requisite.
