Electrician
Construction and Mining Solutions Lesotho invites applications from suitably qualified Basotho candidates for the position of Electrician, based at the Letseng Diamonds Mine in Mokhotlong.
Job Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment and machinery in accordance with prescribed standards and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment, including conveyor belts and associated machinery
- Conduct fault finding and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
- Perform inspections, servicing, and repairs in compliance with safety and legal standards
- Execute single- and three-phase motor connections and wiring
- Maintain 11kV transformers, mini-substations, and switchgear
- Service conveyor systems, motors, gearboxes, and drives
- Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards
- Maintain stock levels and liaise with suppliers for procurement of spares
- Develop and implement electrical maintenance procedures
Minimum Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering
- Electrical Trade Test Certificate
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in construction and/or mining environments
- Knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems
- Experience with pumps, conveyors, and related equipment
- Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Valid Code B driver’s licence
- Proficiency in English
- Instrumentation experience will be an added advantage
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to work shifts and overtime as required
- Ability to reside on-site at Letseng Diamonds Mine
- Successful candidate will report to the Supervisor
- Must be medically fit and willing to undergo a three-month probation period
