The F Ehod: Ecommerce Marketplace role is based within Marketing

Role purpose: responsible for the setup, management and operations of Vodacoms Digital Market Place go-to-market offering for B2C and B2B2C services. Launching the Vodacom Marketplace Platform which will include Product and Services Marketplace; Identifying and launching revenue generation ecommerce industry solutions leveraging the next generation of digital technologies; Identifying and managing local and global digital partnerships necessary to build a successful marketplace ecosystem. Commercial deal making with enterprises, mature start-ups, funders, and partners for all ecommerce Product and Services built through the Vodacom Market Place platform. Working with CBU, EBU and technology innovation teams to graduate internal and external Products and Services to market success.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership

  • Accountable for managing design, launch and management of the Market Place

  • Manage leading edge retail and commercial services business models and highly technical environments and cross-functional teams including partners, our large enterprise customers and technology providers

  • Develop the commercial deal, contracts and business cases for the Product and Service Categories

  • Manage the Market Place delivery including identifying and prioritising candidate Categories, build the differentiating offering / proposition and

  • Management and evolution of the Market Place Agile and innovation processes and Ideation methodology for gathering requirements

  • Ensure alignment with the broader Vodacom commercial strategy, architecture and services

  • Ensuring financial integrity and sustainability of the Market Place platform

  • Accountable for alignment with Vodafone Group strategy and platforms

  • Manage the budget

  • Management of the public communications strategy for the Market Place

  • Create an environment responsive to rapid changes in market conditions, intraday, weekly and monthly

  • Actively manage relationships and alignment with technology, specifically the Consumer, Enterprise and International units

  • Manage relationships with key suppliers

  • Forge a close working relationship with local market management teams and develop product communities to share best practice and execute key initiatives

  • Develop individuals within the team with real-time coaching, feedback and timely career and succession planning, ensuring that each individual has a documented personal development plan

  • Ensure recruitment and retention programmes attract and maximise world class talent to develop a high performance team

  • Ensure robust succession with regards to 2:1 cover ratio for the Executive role

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Matric is essential

  • A relevant post graduate degree is essential

  • An MBA/MBL is preferred

  • 8 10 years relevant experience is essential

  • Experience in incubating new services, managing projects and multi domain programmes (5 years+)

  • Experience in implementing digital services (5 years)

  • Leadership experience (4yrs)

Desirable

  • Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Telecommunications Industry , Retail e-commerce, start-up investment banking or global private equity team

  • Experience working in relevant market/context

The base location for this role is, Midrand
