POSITION SUMMARY

The Education and Community Mobilization Team Lead is responsible for coordinating overall education, community mobilization, and survey respondent linkage strategies associated with national and population-specific surveys.

This position is grant funded.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead the design, implementation and measurement of impact of community mobilization and community linkage strategies and approaches and their adaptation to each survey, as required.
  • Lead the development of community mobilization materials in concert with other stakeholders that are consistent with the national policy frameworks; develop SOPs and tools for community entry procedures, community level sensitization, survey team feedback, and community reactions.
  • Provide technical guidance for supporting community engagement and mobilization to survey teams and community organizations including the engagement of community members to reach and optimize survey participation among targeted survey populations.
  • Establish the supervision and monitoring plans for community mobilization procedures and activities.
  • Serve as the project focal point for communications knowledge management/information, templates and strategies to support community mobilization.
  • Support country teams in effective media engagement that drives support at multiple levels for the surveys
  • Inform and support the development and execution of project-related communications at global, regional and national levels.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, international development or public health communications required; Master’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in community mobilization, public health education and training, and strategic communications in resource-limited settings.
  • Prior experience in the implementation of multi-country communication campaigns or initiatives.
  • Knowledge of the principles of community mobilization for engagement of targeted populations in surveys.
  • Excellent writing and copy-editing skills.
  • Proven ability to present content for diverse audiences and platforms (print and online).
  • Excellent writing ability, strong interpersonal, group facilitation, and oral presentation skills.
  • Strong sense of visual presentation and ability to do basic graphic layout.
  • Fluent English oral and written communication skills.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

International travel up to 50% of the time, primarily to Sub-Saharan Africa.
