JOB TITLE: ECONOMIC PLANNER
GRADE : G
RESPONSIBLE TO : SENIOR ECONOMIC PLANNER
NUMBER OF POSTS : ONE (1)
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To carry out socio-economic analysis of projects and programmes to inform planning and budgeting processes; formulation and monitoring of sectoral plans, national strategies and policies.
MAIN DUTIES
1.0Participates in the identification, formulation, monitoring and evaluation of development programmes and projects.
1.1 Carries out overall socio-economic analysis of programmes and projects.
1.2 Carries out monitoring of projects as they relate to sectors.
1.3 Facilitate input of data into the national monitoring and evaluation system.
1.4 Prepares regular reports on physical and financial progress on all programmes and projects.
1.5 Writes research papers on topical economic and social issues.
2.0 Supports the implementation of mechanisms to enhance performance.
2.1 Prepares an annual ministerial work plan.
2.2 Agrees on staff annual work plans to ensure that the plans are in line with objectives of the department.
2.3 Conducts quarterly appraisal of staff to determine individual performance and training needs.
2.4 Participate in budget preparations and discussions.
3.0 Facilitates and contributes to formulation of national development plans and policies.
3.1 Oversee collection and analysis of data and relevant material for formulation of national strategic plan and policies.
3.2 Takes part in the process of dissemination and implementation of national plans and policies.
JOB SPECIFICATION
Education and Training, and Experience
Masters in Economics plus Two (2) years working experience in the field of development planning.
OR
Bachelors’ degree in Economics plus at least four (4) years’ experience in the field of development planning.
Other relevant Knowledge;
- Good interpretation and analytical skills;
- Competence in data analysis and management;
- Ability to evaluate development proposals;
- Good Communications Skills;
- Good in research skills;
- Ability to write reports
