JOB VACANCY – DISTRICT PROJECT COORDINATOR * 1 (MOKHOTLONG)

We are looking for an exceptional and motivated District Project Coordinator to support smooth implementation of LEAP START project activities in Mokhotlong district. The District Project Coordinator manages and coordinates the Early Childhood Development programme for children under 5 and including those with developmental disabilities. This includes development, management, and implementation of technical assistance to the District Health Management Team and district to local Partners to strengthen services for children.

Contract Type: Full time.

Place of Assignment: Mokhotlong District

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Integrate ECD activities within existing Reproductive Maternal Newborn Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) services at selected health facilities in the district.
  • Ensure effective planning, coordination, and implementation of Early Childhood Development (ECD) interventions.
  • Assess and advise on capacity building needs within the community and district stakeholders to ensure effective implementation and compliance with the National IECD framework.
  • Support training community-based health and education cadres to ensure ECD activities are implemented as part of a well-coordinated one-programme approach in close collaboration with the DHMT.
  • Contribute to improved knowledge of and access to health services and nutrition for caregivers and children (0-5 years) through community-driven activities.
  • Closely monitor and supervise the communities involved in ECD-sensitive activities in close collaboration with other district stakeholders such as the DHMT.
  • Support the planning, implementing, and reporting of specific components of the LEAP START project, i.e., baseline survey, local partnering, end line survey, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate the project closely with the DHMT and other district authorities involved with ECD initiatives.
  • Consolidate all relevant LEAP START project reports for the Project Manager in a timely and concise manner.
  • Critically assess project progress in the district and report challenges immediately to the Project Manager.
  • Oversee the appropriate and efficient use of SolidarMed assets and materials used for LEAP START.
  • Ensure the timely submission of all project-related receipts and accounting details for the monthly, quarterly, and annual account closures.
  • Ensure that all project payments follow the SolidarMed rules and regulations as stipulated in the current OHB.
  • Ensure regular reporting to the PM verbally and/or in writing as agreed upon.
  • Submit a monthly tentative work plan and monthly report to the PM by the last day of every month.

Partnership Management:

  • Conduct monthly site supervisory and mentoring visits to partner congregations.
  • Lead in identification of partner capacity gaps and strengthen capacities to improve project implementation.
  • Collaborate closely with all partners on financial, managerial, and other capacity-building initiatives.
  • Provide substantive and timely feedback on partner reports.

Communications and Networking:

  • Foster linkages with other projects and pursue opportunities for project integration.
  • Support the development and dissemination of up-to-date information, education, and communication (IEC) materials, as necessary.
  • In collaboration with partners, identify and document lessons learned, sound practices, and success stories.
  • Work with partners to appropriately package and share project information – including monitoring and evaluation learning findings and reporting – with community stakeholders.
  • Draft, review, and obtain appropriate approval for project reports, as necessary, and ensure timely submission to the donor.

Required Competencies:

  • Sound computer literacy, communication skills, report writing skills, ability to work under pressure, knowledge of research principles.
  • Positive overview in a complex working environment, good interpersonal skills, reliability, punctuality, and self-motivation.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in written and spoken Sesotho and English.
  • Must be able to work effectively within a team, be proactive, assertive, and flexible enough to achieve the overall goals of the SolidarMed Lesotho Country Programme.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Degree in Nursing, Early Childhood Development, Social Work, Public Health, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of ECD/MNCH field experience including a strong background in working with children 0-5.
