Job Summary
The Earthworks Engineer will lead the design, planning, and execution of earthworks projects, providing technical leadership while ensuring quality, cost, schedule, safety, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of earthworks, including cut/fill management, embankments, retaining structures, drainage, compaction, and erosion control.
- Prepare and review earthworks calculations, settlement analyses, and slope stability assessments.
- Develop construction methodologies, specifications, QA/QC plans, and risk assessments.
- Manage site engineering teams, subcontractors, surveyors, and geotechnical consultants.
- Oversee testing programmes, including compaction, in-situ density, and CBR testing.
- Monitor project costs, schedules, and resource utilisation.
- Ensure compliance with HSE standards and environmental regulations.
- Mentor junior engineers and support tender preparation.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
Experience
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience on large civil or infrastructure earthworks projects.
- Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, compaction, drainage, and earth retention systems.
- Competence with engineering design software.
- Experience leading engineering teams and managing contracts.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills.
