Wool and Mohair Value Chain Competitiveness Project
The Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho through the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition (MAFSN) has just started implementation of the Wool and Mohair Value Chain Competitiveness Project (WaMCoP), which is a 7 years project that covers the 10 districts of Lesotho. The project is financed by the Government of Lesotho, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), OPEC Fund for International Development, Global Environment Facility and beneficiary’s contributions. The projects overall goal is to increase the economic and climate resilience of wool and mohair value chain stakeholders, with emphasis on wool and mohair farmers’ livelihoods, including women and youth. The MAFSN has established the key positions of the project coordination unit and would like to make a call to the relevant professionals for the following additional positions:
Position: Driver
Reports to: Administration Officer
Duty Station: Central and Districts
Number of positions: Seven (7)
Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Administration Officer, the Driver will be responsible for driving the project staff on official trips, collection and delivery of official materials, provision of basic maintenance to the vehicles and reporting of all servicing requirements to ensure road worthiness.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide driving services to Project staff on official matters as required.
- Collects and delivers official materials as may be required. Checks safety of vehicles to ensure roadworthiness on daily basis
- Updates logbook of vehicle use on daily basis for proper recording of mileage
- Reports periodic servicing needs to Administration Officer in advance to ensure proper handling of the vehicle.
- Collects and delivers official materials as may be required
- Washes the vehicle outside and inside on daily basis as to keep cleanliness
Qualification and Experience:
COSC OR LGCSE or GCE PLUS Five (5) years’ work experience as a Driver.
Knowledge and Skills
- Valid driver’s licence obtained at the minimum period of five (5) years.
- Excellent driving record
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance
- Knowledge of both official languages
- Excellent interpersonal skills with core staff and relevant stakeholders including Donors
- Must have passed driving assessment test
- A Certificate in Proficiency would be an added advantage.
Mode and Duration of Contract
The duration of the assignment will be three years, renewable depending on satisfactory performance
