Applications are invited from suitably qualified local candidates for the following position tenable in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition:

TITLE: Driver
GRADE: C
RESPONSIBLE TO: Transport Officer
LOCATION: Maseru
NO. OF POSITIONS: Two (2)
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Transport Officer, the incumbent is responsible for driving government vehicles and ensuring they are properly maintained.
MAIN DUTIES
- Collects and delivers official staff and materials as required.
- Checks vehicle safety daily and before long journeys (oil, petrol, heater, brakes, lights, speedometer, mirrors, tyres) to ensure roadworthiness.
- Reports servicing needs in advance to the Transport Officer.
- Cleans vehicles, including the engine.
- Updates the vehicle logbook daily to record mileage.
- Reports vehicle accidents promptly, including effects and problems encountered.
- Ensures proper custody of vehicle tools.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATION
Education and Licensing Requirements:
- COSC or GCE with a valid driver’s licence and a Public Driver’s Licence
PLUS - Three (3) years of work experience in the field of transport
Knowledge and Skills:
- Valid driver’s licence held for a minimum of two (2) years
- Excellent driving record
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance
- Proficiency in both official languages
- Must have passed a driving assessment test
Note: Defensive driving certification will be an added advantage.
