Jhplego Is an international health organization affiliated with Johns Hopkins University (JHU) in Baltimore, Maryland. For over 50 years, Jhpiego has put evidence-based health innovations into everyday practice to improve health care for the world’s most vulnerable populations. Jhpiego empowers front-line health workers by designing and implementing effective, low-cost, hands-on solutions that strengthen the quality of health care services, following the household-to-hospital continuum of care. Jhpiego also partners with organizations from the community to the national levels, building sustainable, local capacity through advocacy, policy development, health workforce strengthening and quality and performance improvement approaches.

In Lesotho in particular, Jhpiego has been operating since 2012 through supporting the government of Lesotho in delivering health services to the Basotho people. Jhpiego’s portfolio currently focuses on HIV/TB and COVID epidemic response and includes a range of HIV and COVID focused programming and research efforts including Khanya (VMMC and PrEP), Thebe (TB Contact Tracing and COVID Response), RISE (COVID Case Management and Vaccine Support), MOSAIC (biomedical HIV prevention including Dapivirine Ring Introduction), CUT-TB (RCT) and various other small studies.

Jhpiego is looking for a suitable candidate for the below vacant position;

Responsibilities

  • Drive staff, Jhpiego visitors and consultants to and from their destinations.
  • Deliver mail and packages as required.
  • Check that vehicle logbooks are properly filled in order to verify authorization of trips taken and that mileage is properly accounted for.
  • Ensure responsible passengers sign mileage in log books physically seeing the mileage, and not told by the driver
  • Record statuses of vehicles before and after each trip to ensure that any damage can be identified with or tied to a trip
  • Ensure that all cargoes and loads are secure and transported at all times
  • Enforce transport policies and traffic laws; and ensure that all passengers adhere to such laws accordingly.
  • Assume responsibility for the service and maintenance of the vehicles
  • Ensure daily routine vehicle checks including oil, water and brake fluid levels
  • Undertake other duties as requested

Qualifications, Experience and Requirements

  • C.O.S.C
  • 5 years’ experience as a driver
  • 2 years public driver’s license
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to communicate in English and Sesotho
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Completion of Defensive Driving Course will be an added advantage
