Applications are invited from suitably qualified local candidates for the following positions in the Ministry of Water:
DEPARTMENT : RURAL WATER SUPPLY
JOB TITLE : DRIVER
GRADE : C
RESPONSIBLE TO: DISTRICT ENGINEER AND ASSISTANT ADMIN OFFICER (Respectively)
NO. OF POSITIONS : TWO (2)
JOB SUMMARY
Under close supervision of the Principal Technical Officer, the Driver is responsible for the following:
1.0. MAIN DUTIES
1.1. Drives and deliver mail and goods as required by officers.
1.2. Keeps government vehicles in good condition by cleaning them regularly.
1.3. Reminds Transport Officer when the vehicles are due for service.
1.4. Checks the vehicles as whether it has enough water and oil also to check for spare wheel, jack and wheel spanner before driving the vehicle.
1.5. Checks if the vehicle is road worthy e.g. brake lights, indicators, head lamp, hooter and wipers before driving it.
1.6. Closes the mileage at the end of the day on the logbook.
1.7. Closes mileage at the end of the month and start new page for the next month.
1.8. Parks vehicles at the government premises only.
1.9. Never gives driving lesson with government vehicle unless instructed by authority.
2.0. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
2.1. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• At least C.O.S.0 plus at least two (2) years driving experience.
• Valid Heavy duty driver’s license.
• Passing driving assessment test.
3.0. RESPONSIBILITY
The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring safekeeping of vehicle tools and the vehicle itself.
4.0. COMPLEXITY
The incumbent takes orders from the District Engineer and other senior officials with the concern of the District Engineer.
5.0 EFFORT
Must be mentally and physically stable.
6.0. WORKING CONDITIONS
• Should be prepared to travel long distances both within and outside the country.
• Can be stationed anywhere within the country.
• Travels after normal working hours and on weekends.
• Be prepared to work under unfavorable working conditions especially in the mountain areas.
