About the Department of War (DOW) Project
Department of War (DOW) is a project supporting the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF), the uniform and non-uniform security services of the country as well as their direct beneficiaries.
The project started on a smaller scale in 2005 with the design and implementation of HIV prevention programmes, which focused primarily on training military personnel in HIV prevention and HIV testing and reinforcing the capacity to increase uptake of HIV counselling and testing services.
Until 2012, when Voluntary Male Circumcision (VMMC) services were launched, which were fully integrated in the services provided at Thomas Wellness Centre in Makoanyane and are sustained by the institution beyond project life.
Under DOW Project, the incumbent will provide safe and timely transportation for staff and PSI delegates to supported sites and execute assigned daily errands.
What You’ll Do
The incumbent must be able to perform all the following duties and responsibilities:
- Driving PSI vehicles during working hours for work-related purposes.
- Delivering mail to and from PSI offices to designated areas/offices.
- Delivering staff and other dignitaries to different destinations for work-related purposes.
- Ensuring good condition of vehicles by undertaking daily, weekly and monthly checks up on such as oil, water, lights and spot checks.
- Maintaining cleanliness of PSI vehicles.
- Conduct daily checks of the assigned vehicle, including oil, coolant, fuel, tyres, lights, brakes, and other essential components.
- Ensure vehicles are serviced and maintained according to the approved maintenance schedule.
- Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks and records of mileage, fuel consumption, trips, and maintenance.
- Ensure that vehicles are parked safely and securely when not in use.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by supervisor.
What You’ll Bring
- C.O.S.C plus a valid driver’s license
- 5–8 years’ experience as a professional driver
- Two (2) years’ public driver’s license will be an added advantage
Key Competencies
- Must have sober habits
- Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues in a team environment
- Willing to work beyond normal working hours
- Able to read and write English and Sesotho
- Must have clean driving history
