Job Summary

The Driver will play an essential role in supporting the implementation of the RESOLVE TB study by providing safe, reliable, and timely transportation services for study staff, participants, treatment supporters, guests, and other project stakeholders.

The Driver will be responsible for transporting the study team to and from research sites, health facilities, and community locations, as well as ensuring the secure and timely delivery of study-related supplies, specimens, equipment, documents, and other project materials.

The Driver will also support field operations by maintaining project vehicles, adhering to safety and transport regulations, keeping accurate vehicle and mileage records, and performing other transportation-related duties required to facilitate the successful implementation of the study.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the vehicle for official travel and business as requested by the employer or authorized employer representative.
  • Maintain a high standard of service to both internal and external guests.
  • Ensure punctuality and safe transport.
  • Observe the road and traffic laws and regulations of the Kingdom of Lesotho or any country of travel.
  • Ensure that safe driving practices are adhered to, including local driving codes and internally agreed standards.
  • Must not have nor consume alcohol whilst on duty.
  • Ensure the vehicle is kept clean, tidy, and in good working condition at all times.
  • Ensure the vehicle is kept secure at all times.
  • Ensure the vehicle is given regular/day-to-day maintenance checks, including oil, water, battery, brakes and tires.
  • Ensure vehicle repairs are carried out properly according to the official manufacturer’s specification.
  • Perform minor repairs, arrange for other repairs, and prepare vehicle spare parts inventory.
  • Prepare and submit vehicle monitoring reports, including records of vehicle operations, maintenance, expenses, and mileage at the end of each month.
  • Ensure vehicle insurance and registration are updated according to the schedule.
  • Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, and other relevant information.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • COSC or LGCSE.
  • 5 years’ experience as a driver. Having worked in the NGO sector will be an added advantage.
  • Timekeeping and ability to work under pressure and after hours.
  • Valid driver’s license: Code B.
  • Able to speak, write and read English and Sesotho.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • No criminal record.
