Applications are invited from suitably qualified local candidates for the following vacant position tenable at the Ministry of Energy.
JOB TITLE : Driver
NUMBER OF POSITIONS : One (1)
RESPONSIBLE TO : Assistant Administration Officer
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Principal Technical Officer, the incumbent is responsible for checking the vehicle’s condition and cleanliness, maintaining the log book, and transporting staff and other necessities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Checking of the Vehicle’s Condition and Cleanliness
- Maintains the vehicle, both interior and exterior, in a clean, polished and good operating condition.
- Checks oil, fuel, lights, mirrors, tyres and speedometer before each journey to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy.
- Regularly checks that anti‑theft devices are functional at all times to guard against theft.
- Takes the vehicle for servicing and reports any defects to avoid operational problems.
2. Maintenance of the Log Book and Transport Requisition Forms
- Records mileage readings before and after each journey in the log book to monitor vehicle usage.
- Verifies that transport requisition forms specifying destinations are properly completed before undertaking any journey.
3. Transportation of Staff and Other Necessities
- Assists staff members when entering and exiting the vehicle to ensure their safety.
- Transports staff and other necessities to various locations as requested, observing assigned schedules.
- Performs any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time.
JOB SPECIFICATION
- COSC / LGCSE
- Minimum of two (2) years working experience as a Driver
- Valid driver’s licence
- Successful completion of a driving assessment test conducted by the Traffic Department

- Ability to abstain from intoxicating substances during working hours
- Willingness and ability to work beyond normal working hours
- Good communication skills
- Physically fit
- Courteous and accommodating attitude
- Non‑smoking inside the vehicle
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsibility for Property
- Responsible for the safety and security of the Government vehicle assigned to him/her.
2. Effect of Errors
- Errors in transporting staff and other necessities may adversely affect Government operations.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Unfavourable Conditions
- The nature of the work may require working beyond normal working hours.
