Applications are invited from suitably qualified local candidates for the following position:
MINISTRY: Finance and Development Planning
DEPARTMENT: Treasury – Sub-Accountancy
JOB TITLE: Driver
GRADE: C
NO. OF POSTS: One (1)
RESPONSIBLE TO: Administration Assistant
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Transport Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for driving Government vehicles and ensuring that they are properly maintained. She/he is responsible for the following:
MAIN DUTIES
- Performs all driving duties
- Maintains the logbook before any journey is taken and after the journey
- Checks oil, fuel gauge, water, wheel studs, brakes, lights, speedometer, mirrors, safety belts, wipers and tyres
- Maintains general cleanliness of the vehicles
- Ensures that the vehicle is always in good condition before any journey is taken
- Reports timely any abnormality or fault of the vehicle to the Transport Officer
- Assists to transport staff when other drivers have been assigned to perform other official duties within or outside the office or when on leave
- Performs any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by those responsible
JOB SPECIFICATION
Education and Experience
- The candidate must be in possession of COSC / GCE / LGCSE with at least three (3) years driving experience
- The incumbent must have a valid driver’s license with not less than four (4) years as a driver
OR - Candidates must be in possession of JC with at least four (4) years driving experience
- The incumbent must have a valid driver’s license with not less than four (4) years as a driver
Experience as a government driver in mountain areas will be an added advantage
