  1. Background of Women and Law in Southern Africa (WLSA) Lesotho

WLSA’s mission is to contribute to the socio-economic political and legal advancement of women and children in Lesotho. The Trust is an NGO pursuing children and women’s human rights in a legal context. Since 1989, WLSA has been the anchor and the lead organisation in Lesotho with the objective of facilitating gender integration on prevention and protection of violence against Children (VAC), Gender Based Violence (GBV) and response across the country through provision of post violence care services with the goal of enabling environment for uptake of health services particularly HIV, TB etc. in order to achieve gender equality in the development process.

Led by the Ministry of Finance Project Management Unit (MOF- PMU), WLSA is currently implementing a Global Fund supported Grant to Support Implementation of Community System Strengthening under New Funding Model 3 Grant, for Human Rights and addressing Gender Barriers to HIV and SRH Services. The project is implemented in the six districts of Leribe, ButhaButhe, Thaba-Tseka, Quthing, Qacha’s Nek and Mokhotlong. It is on the basis of this background that WLSA is seeking to fill in the position of a Driver and Logistics O­fficer.

  1. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Overall Responsibility: Responsible for operating the organization’s motor vehicles and transporting officers to various activities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Keep assigned vehicles free from damage, in acceptable condition, and consistently clean. The driver and logistics officer must ensure that the vehicles are in proper and safe conditions prior to use, and accept responsibility to report any damage or mechanical malfunctions that exist.
  2. Transport staff to service delivery sites as requested
  3. Adhere to all WLSA policies and procedures, including utilization of the vehicle only for work related activities
  4. Keep track of service, mileage, and maintenance of the vehicles
  5. Check regularly the road ­fitness of the vehicles (tires, oil, water, etc.)
  6. Observe and keep traffic laws (e.g. speed limit, traffic lights)
  7. Perform other tasks assigned by the administration
  8. Respect and maintain the relationship of trust required to obtain a high level of security access to offices, homes, and properties of company personnel without supervision.
  9. Be willing and able to perform tasks without direct supervision that may require physical labour, and possibly the use of hand tools. This work may need to be performed both indoors and outdoors in inclement weather.
  10. Transport employees and other individuals as directed, in a safe and responsible manner.
  11. Any other duties assigned by the Executive Director or an officer acting on her behalf.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Required Skills:

COSC completion

Driver’s Licence (Code B)

Minimum 5 years’ experience

Experience driving in hard-to-reach terrain is an added advantage

Training in defensive driving is an added advantage
