Letšeng seeks to engage a qualified professional with the appropriate skills and aptitude to fill the position of:
DRILL & BLAST TECHNICIAN FINAL WALL (PATERSON BAND CU X1)
PURPOSE:
To ensure the correct application of management systems, processes, policies, procedures and resources provided, to deliver safe and quality drill and blast services in order to optimize the performance of pit slopes.
MAIN OUTPUTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures that final pit limit drilling operations remain strictly to pit designs and standards for quality results
- Ensure that correct rock parameters inputs are applied in blast designs model and coordinate drill pattern designs
- Regularly monitor, assess and analyze on the field drilling and charging activities to ensure designs and standards implementation
- Verify that drilling and charging quality on final pit limit drill pattern is met all the time
- Reinforce that drill patterns are cleaned as per procedures
- Authorise the commencement of pre-splits and trim blocks charging post quality drilling recorded and ensure quality at all times
- Maintain accurate implementation of charging design for pre-splits and trim blocks ensuring QAQC
- Develop and implement blasting improvement programmes including strategies to reduce drill and blast costs to the business
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Diploma or equivalent in Mining Engineering
- 5 years relevant experience and as Drill and Blast Foreman in an open pit production environment, of which at least 3 years will be experience in drilling and blasting planning activities and supervision
- Must have driver’s license (At least code 8)
- Must have an open Pit Blasting license and drilling and blasting courses
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Knowledge and understanding of pre-split design and execution QAQC
- Knowledge of open pit drilling and blasting techniques and conversant with drill pattern designs
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the risks affecting the operations, and the applicable actions to manage and mitigate risk
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the relevant regulatory requirements that govern open pit blasting practices
