Machabeng College invites applications from passionate and qualified individuals for the position of Drama and Theatre Teacher to join our dynamic Creative Arts Department. The successful candidate will teach Drama and Theatre to Lower School students (Secondary 1–3) and contribute to the growth of the performing arts within an international curriculum context.
Position: Drama and Theatre Arts Teacher
Start Date: August 2025
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver high-quality instruction in Cambridge IGCSE Drama and IB Diploma Theatre Arts.
• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons that foster creativity, critical thinking and confidence in performance.
• Guide students in practical and theoretical aspects of theatre performance and production.
• Organize and direct school productions, performances, and drama-related events.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school and actively support co-curricular activities in the Arts.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Drama, Theatre Arts or a related field (A Master’s degree will be an advantage).
• A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, PGDE, with specialization in Drama or Theatre Arts or equivalent).
• Relevant teaching experience, preferably in an international school context.
• Proven experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE Drama and/or IB Theatre Arts is highly desirable.
• Desirable Skills and Attributes:
• Strong understanding of international curricula and inquiry-based learning.
• Excellent communication, organizational and classroom management skills.
• Creative, collaborative, and culturally responsive approach to teaching.
• Ability and qualification to teach additional Creative Arts subjects such as Visual Arts or Music will be an added advantage.
