POST TITLE: DEPUTY REGISTRAR – COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING (FOUR YEAR FIXED – TERM CONTRACT)

REPORTS TO : REGISTRAR

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision of the Registrar, Deputy Registrar – Communications and Marketing is responsible To develop, implement, manage and drive the marketing and communication strategies as well as manage the Polytechnic’s brand.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The key duties of the post are as follows :-

  • Responsible for development, and implementation of new marketing programs, including social media marketing;
  • Identifies areas where LP can participate as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and form strategic partnerships;
  • Develops and promotes branding initiatives consistent with strategic goals and objectives of the Polytechnic;
  • Boost the LP brand through the development of ancillary revenue streams and new opportunities;
  • Ensures all products, services, and other offerings conform to brand identity; conduct ongoing brand management, assures consistency on all LP materials including the logo;
  • Works with creative staff and other department heads to produce marketing collateral in accordance with brand messages;
  • Ensures brand presence in all institutional activities and sponsored events;
  • Responsible for development and management of the Communications and Marketing budget;
  • Develops strategies and activities with constituencies on campus to market their programmes and services;
  • Collaborates with all departments to identify internal and external customer needs;
  • Determine which type of content will reach the public;
  • Communicate and negotiate with promotional partners as needed for joint marketing activities;
  • Research digital advertising trends/methods, develop a digital strategy and implement social media options for the Polytechnic;
  • Evaluate the success of various communication strategies, provide and implement recommendations for improvement;
  • Provide strategic leadership to the marketing groups and all other departments of Lerotholi Polytechnic;
  • Serves as the spokesperson for the Polytechnic on the instruction of the Registrar;
  • Responsible for drafting press statements;
  • Assist with Graduations and other major institutional events;
  • Design and implement alternative communication strategies to improve campus communications between management, students and staff;
  • Maintain relations with the media, respond to media inquiries, initiate media documents to inform the public about the Polytechnic and organize press conferences;
  • Develop and implement strategies to communicate with Alumni, community, business, industry and Government;
  • Maintain a data base of external partnership and nurture those partnerships for on-going support to the Polytechnic;
  • Manage staff under his/her supervision.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree or Degree in communications, public relations, marketing or related field
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role two of which should have been in a managerial role.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Employment type

The appointment for the position shall be on contract for a period of four (4) years and shall be renewable based on performance.
