The Donor Development Coordinator will support the Head of Fundraising in delivering our fundraising strategy. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the Individual Giving strategy, which will focus on both acquisition and retention of donors making financial gifts, including the major donor program, university campaigns and special events to ensure Feenix moves closer to its financial goals.

Feenix seeks to appoint a Donor Development Coordinator to be based in Cape Town.

Salary between R240 000 – R288 000 CTC p.a

Acquisition Programs:

Work with the Head of Fundraising and the Fundraising Communications Manager on the overall mix of donor acquisition programs to ensure sustainability and maximum return on investment, including developing the annual donor development plan.
Work closely with the Marketing Department and the Student Engagement Department to drive an integrated approach to fundraising initiatives and maximise impact.

Donor Care and Retention:

Work with the Fundraising Communications Manager to implement strategies to maximise new regular donor retention after registration.
Foster a culture of excellence in Donor services by ensuring the maintenance of quality business procedures to efficiently process all donor requests and maximise Life Time Value
Manage and monitor all welcome and thank you processes and materials for Donors utilising the most cost effective and appropriate channels
Monitor the behaviour of donors and introduce effective strategies to increase their donation per year, via telephone and email to reduce credit/debit card rejections and suspensions.
Support the Marketing team in managing the design, production and distribution of donor care materials including the Tax certificate/annual campaigns
Manage the distribution of donor care materials including the tax certificate campaign and work with the Business Analyst, Fundraising Communications Manager and the Marketing Coordinator to pursue opportunities to integrate and extend these activities in the mobile and digital space
Work with the Fundraising Team to introduce team KPIs to improve retention statistics and conduct/organise training sessions to support their work

Reporting, analysis and data management:

Measure program effectiveness through income modelling, lifetime value analysis and rigorous testing.
Provide regular analysis, tracking and reports against all program objectives and ensure programs meet set targets
Work with the Business Analyst and Fundraising Communications Manager to conduct regular retention and attrition analysis to identify successful strategies and opportunities for improved retention communications.
Monitor project work-in-progress, timelines and milestones to ensure key deadlines and targets are achieved.
Develop data integrity strategy to ensure all opportunities are used to capture up to date, relevant and accurate information about donors

Other Duties:

Ensure all activities and relationships are tracked consistently through effective use of the CRM
Contribute to and support other team and departmental work as appropriate. Provide timely and informative reports to the Head of Fundraising on progress being made against KPIs and overall income targets.
Proactively ensure all materials produced are accurate and compliant with relevant data protection (POPIA & GDPR).
Undertake all activities in line with best practice standards and processes as set out by the Institute of Fundraising and industry regulatory bodies.
Keep abreast of all developments in Individual Giving and community fundraising legislation and regulatory control.

Skills and Qualifications:

A minimum of 3 years of individual fundraising, sales, or marketing experience
Excellent written communication skills: experienced in creating persuasive and compelling fundraising propositions and funder reports
Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
Strong attention to detail
A passion for research
Adept at managing tasks, planning events, and balancing priorities
Experience of using a fundraising donor management systems is an advantage
Ability to work collaboratively across the organisation to achieve objectives

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, public relations, or a related field
Experience in direct response fundraising through online and offline mechanisms (Face to Face, DRTV, Crowdfunding)
Certificate in Fundraising, Diploma in Fundraising, or similar qualification is a plus
Competence in Microsoft Office suite and donor management systems
Experience and understanding of donor or client management, including identification, research, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major donors or equivalent experience in a commercial environment.
Proven track record of meeting targets and objectives on agreed timelines
Confidence with public speaking
