Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Senior Resource Teacher, the incumbent will provide school-based support to schools with multi-grade teaching in hard-to-reach areas and other schools where he/she may be deployed. The incumbent will also participate in all educational activities as planned.

Main Duties

• Provide professional support to teachers and principals in primary schools.
• Report to the Senior Resource Teacher.
• Receive logistical support from the District Education Manager.
• Receive professional support from the Senior Resource Teacher.
• Participate in monthly meetings.
• Participate in district planning sessions with the District Education Manager (DEM) and Senior Resource Teacher (SRT).
• Participate in training and dissemination workshops organized by relevant authorities.
• Prepare reports for the Senior Resource Teacher.
• Conduct school-based and regional workshops for principals and teachers.
• Advise schools on assessment policy, with particular attention to diagnostic purposes and skills measurement.
• Produce and evaluate teaching materials such as teaching programmes (modules), assessment tools, improvised equipment, and support materials for schools.
• Assist teachers in the utilization of special teaching materials such as equipment, teachers’ guides, and materials produced by NCDC and publishers.
• Advise principals and teachers on the adoption of sound management practices and innovative teaching methods.
• Participate in curriculum development, internal examinations, and the review of the Ministry’s Examination and Assessment Policies.
• Extend assistance to teachers in neighbouring primary schools.

Job Specification

Applicants must possess either:

• Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Primary Education or equivalent qualification, plus seven (7) years of managerial experience;

OR

• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Primary Education or equivalent qualification, plus ten (10) years of experience in a managerial position.

Salary Scale

District Resource Teacher – L8

Salary Range: M295,860.00 – M366,876.00 per annum
