As a Director, Tax Accounting at Skillshare, you’ll work directly with the accounting team and tax consultants to ensure our US and global tax strategy are primed to scale with our business. As a member of the team, you’ll lead our internal tax planning, research and ensure our overall global tax compliance. You will have the opportunity to establish and own internal tax processes and we’ll look to your expertise on streamlining our sales and VAT tax system.

What you’ll do

• You will assist with building out the internal tax function and leveraging technology to streamline tasks
• You will be responsible for the U.S. and International income taxes:
• Federal income tax return and U.S. state income tax returns
• International income tax returns and filings
• Gathering information required to prepare U.S. and global tax workpapers to support income filings
• You will be responsible for year-end and quarterly ASC740 calculations and corporate tax provisions
• You will be responsible for sales and use indirect taxes:
• Managing the preparation and filing of monthly, quarterly, annual indirect tax filings with outside accounting firm
• Providing research and analysis of the tax impact of transactions and develop tax efficient solutions
• Gathering information required to prepare indirect tax filings
• Preparing monthly reconciliations of indirect tax liabilities, general ledger reclassifications, and other tax calculations
• Managing the integration of sales and use tax technology solutionsApplying a working experience with sales tax automation systems
• You will be responsible for VAT/GST taxes:Identifying tax issues and understanding tax technical matters related to VAT / GST
• Performing and/or reviewing VAT/GST tax research with the ability to interact effectively with outside tax advisors in regards to both global indirect tax consulting and compliance support
• Managing the integration of VAT tax technology solutions
• You will be responsible for tax planning and research:
• Monitoring relevant tax legislative changes that may impact the company while being able to clearly communicate those impacts to the organization
• Responding to notices from U.S. and global tax authorities while analyzing risk for financial reporting purposes
• Handling all U.S. and global tax audits
