JOB SUMMARY

1.0 TO OVERSEE THE UNDERTAKING OF PUBLIC RELATIONS RESEARCH TO INFORM POLICY
1.0 To consult and engage with PRISA on issues to consider when drafting and reviewing public relations policies, strategies, guidelines/manuals and Public Relations codes of ethics.
1.1 To identify existing and well functioning government Public Relations institutions that can be used for benchmarking in the SADC region.
1.2 To hold consultations with identified government institutions and undertake study tours within the SADC region.

2.0 TO OVERSEE THE DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF PUBLIC RELATIONS POLICIES AND GOVERNMENT COMMUNICATION STRATEGY
2.1 To invite stakeholders to the sensitization workshop for development of public relations policy and/or government communication strategy
2.2 briefs stakeholders about the purpose of the workshop
2.3 To facilitate establishment of task team and steering committee
2.4 To oversee drafting of public relations policy and communication strategy

2.5 To seek cabinet approval on public relations policy and communication strategy

3.0 TO OVERSEE IMPLEMENTATION OF PUBLIC RELATIONS POLICIES AND GOVERNMENT COMMUNICATION STRATEGY
3.1To sensitise all public relations officers about public relations policies and government communication strategy
3.2 To oversee the implementation planning of public relations policies and government communication strategy
3.3 To oversee implementation of public relations policies, government communication strategy in line with the implementation plan.
3.4 To address challenges that may arise during the implementation of public relations policies and government communication strategy.

4.0 TO OVERSEE COORDINATION OF ALL GOVERNMENT PUBLIC RELATIONS ACTIVITIES
4.1 To facilitate development of public relations policy and communication strategy Monitoring and Evaluation Plans
4.2 To oversee routine monitoring of the implementation of public relations policy and communication strategy
4.3 To oversee evaluation of the public relations policy and communication strategy impact
4.4 To facilitate implementation of M&E recommendations
4.5 To oversee planning of Public Relations activities in line ministries
4.6 To oversee arrangement of government Public Relations meetings and events
4.7 Chairing of government Public Relations meetings
4.8 Advises the government on Public Relations issues/matters and PR budgetary requirements

JOB SPECIFICATION
Master’s Degree in Public Relations/Communications/Media Studies and a minimum of 10 years working experience in public relations and at least 2 years as a Public Relations Manager

OR
Honour’s Degree in Public Relations/Communications/Media Studies and a minimum of 12 years working experience in public relations and at least 3 years as a Public Relations Manager

OR
Degree in Public Relations/Communications/Media Studies and a minimum of 13 years working experience in Public Relations and at least 4 years as a Public Relations Manager
