Job Summary

The incumbent, who will be the Head of Department, will combine sections performing functions of the Council which are already in operation as per Schedule 1 (10) (14) and Schedule 2 (3 and 5).

Main Duties

1. Sensitize and mobilize Maseru City residents to access and utilize recreational facilities.
2. Ensure that departmental work plans are implemented effectively and efficiently.
3. Create public awareness and participation in maintaining a healthy, clean and beautiful environment within the city.
4. Draft and facilitate adoption of by-laws, regulations and any other legal framework that is necessary to keep orderly use of recreational facilities within the city.
5. Determine zoning systems within the communities falling under the Council’s jurisdiction.
6. Co-ordinate management options in consideration of expected changes in physical, biological, social and management attributes and the resulting influence on the benefits.
7. Manage and develop departmental staff.
8. Encourage indoor active and passive recreational facilities suitable for both elderly and young residents.

Qualifications

Senior Degree in Agriculture/Forestry/Horticulture or any related field plus three years’ experience in a managerial position.
