Director of other Financial Institutions Supervision Department– Ref: DOFISD

The Director is responsible for the regulation and supervision of all non-bank financial institutions under the purview of the Central Bank of Lesotho which is a core functions of the Bank in promoting and safeguarding the financial sector stability in the Kingdom of Lesotho.

Areas of responsibility include:

  • Providing technical and strategic leadership to ensure that the Department implements key functions and objectives of the Bank.
  • Providing prudential leadership of the non-bank financial institutions sub-sector with the aim of safeguarding a stable and efficient sub-sector.

The Candidate will be required to:

  • Develop and implement supervisory and regulatory instruments (legislation, frameworks, and guidelines) in line with best practices to ensure soundness and stability of the non-bank financial institutions subsector.
  • License non-bank financial institutions, monitor compliance with their license conditions and other regulatory instruments, and administer sanctions in instances of a breach.
  • Partake in local, regional, and international affairs related to matters of non-bank financial institutions’ supervision and regulation.
  • Participate in and perform cross-functional tasks as a member of the Bank’s Executive Committee.
  • Oversee the Department in respect of resources management, and assurance provision to the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors

All candidates wishing to apply should have the above-stated behavioral competencies and any of the following minimum qualifications:

  • A Master’s Degree in any of the following: Law, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent
  • Ten (10) years of relevant working experience, of which five (5) at the senior managerial level
  • A relevant course in risk-based supervision and/or strategic management will be an added advantage.
