It is an exciting time to join Verra! Our organization is growing rapidly and building the capacity needed to meet strategic organizational requirements. We are seeking a talented finance and accounting professional to lead our accounting group.  The candidate will work with various teams to optimize Verra’s finance operations and processes in terms of accounting, compliance and reporting. In addition, the Director of Accounting will be a business partner to Verra’s front-facing departments.

Specific functions include…

  • Overseeing all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintaining internal controls and safeguards for receipt of revenue and actual expenditures.
  • Leading internal support for the annual external audit and IRS Form 990 filing, including the vetting of a qualified auditing firm for board approval and preparing schedules, as needed.
  • Consistently analyzing financial data and presenting financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly financial statements; monitoring budget to actuals performance and variances, as well as keeping senior leadership abreast of Verra’s financial status.
  • Managing production of the annual budget working closely with the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis on the development of revenue forecasts.
  • Providing training for internal stakeholders to understand and support the budgeting process.
  • Supporting the COO/CFO in engaging the board’s audit and finance committee around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.
  • Overseeing all financial, project/program and grants accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period; collate financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants.
  • Managing organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to assess the financial efficacy of program operations and establish finance and administrative systems to support program operations.
  • Managing and tracking the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
  • Managing and supporting an accounting team with dynamic leadership, leveraging the strengths of each team member and implementing development plans to maximize each individual’s contributions.
  • Leading complex accounting projects and/or initiatives with other members of the finance team or with other departments.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

You bring with you…

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
  • CPA certification in current active status
  • At least 10 years of progressive professional experience managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments and coordinating audit activities.
  • 5+ years as a supervising manager overseeing a team of employees.
  • Demonstrated experience in non-profit accounting.
  • Keen analytic and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to executive management and the board. Fluency in English a must.
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Cultural awareness that enables you to work well with stakeholders and partners from different countries and cultures.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organization skills and client service attitude.
  • Detail oriented and self-motivated.
  • A self-starter approach to your work. You do not wait for assignments but instead, dive in headfirst and are comfortable finding solutions.

Preferred

  • A track record in grants management as it relates to compliance and reporting of government, corporate and foundation grants.
  • Experience with Unanet accounting software
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.

Compensation at Verra

To help us attract and retain top talent, Verra pays employees competitively to the market. In return, we expect each employee to, at a minimum:

  • Meet expectations in terms of work effort and performance;

  • Embody Verra’s values.

For this position, the salary range is between $90,906 – $122,755 USD.  The compensation band is based on a U.S. base salary range and shares the min and max base salary for the position. This position is eligible for remote work.   

The final compensation offered will be contingent upon role, level and location. Our Talent team can share the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. 

We will recognize employees who go beyond expected performance with salary increases and/or promotions, but the bar for earning those rewards is high.

Salary is one component of Verra’s total compensation package which also includes:

  • Health, vision and dental care, and life insurance;

  • Paid Time Off (PTO), comprising 22-30 days plus eleven floating holidays, sabbatical after five years of service, and other leave allowances; and
