Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Chief Education Officer – Curriculum and Assessment (CEO C&A), the incumbent is responsible for curriculum development and assessment, preparation of the National Curriculum Development Centre’s (NCDC) budget, and development of the institution’s operational plan, as well as advising on curriculum and formative assessment activities.
Main Duties
- Advises CEO – Curriculum and Assessment on strategic planning and leadership in curriculum development processes
- Plans and supervises the translation of educational policies into curriculum programmes
- Supervises implementation of all curriculum activities designed to improve syllabus content, production of instructional materials, and implementation and evaluation of curriculum in early childhood, basic, and secondary education levels
- Establishes and ensures close links, as well as harmonious and professional relationships, between NCDC, tertiary institutions, government departments, and other stakeholders involved in curriculum development
- Ensures cooperation and coordination within all sections
- Plans and implements staff development programmes
- Prepares estimates and administers the institution budget
- Supervises and reports on departmental plans and activities
- Promotes innovation and research through general supervision of testing, evaluation, and research division
- Advises the Ministry of Education and Training on curriculum policies
- Liaises with related bodies nationally and internationally
- Represents NCDC and MOET in relevant professional associations, institutions, and projects
- Ensures quality performance
Job Specification
- Master’s degree in Education with a major in Curriculum Development plus three (3) years experience in a managerial position
OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Education with a major in Curriculum Development plus five (5) years experience in a managerial position
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of teaching and learning principles
- Knowledge of Curriculum Planning, Design, and Development
- Knowledge of Evaluation and Assessment principles
- Knowledge of principles of management
- Administrative skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in computer applications
