1.Job Title: Diesel Mechanic (1)
Contract type: Permanent
Main purpose:
To maintain and repair plant equipment and sub-components in a safe and efficient manner.
Main Duties:
1.Perform routine maintenance and inspections on plant as per schedule.
2.Test plant equipment after completion of maintenance before delivery to the users.
3.Assess parts requirements and generate purchase requisitions accordingly.
4.Assist in procurement of the correct parts for plant.
5.Assemble & install plant components.
6.Assist in commissioning of new plant.
7.Assist with improvement of predictive and preventive maintenance programme in relation to costs and production time.
8.Conduct diagnostics and root cause analysis of plant failures.
9.Ensure compliance with requirements of the Plant Quality Management System.
10.Assist with implementation of SHEQ requirements within the workshop section.
Qualifications, experience and desirable attributes
- Must have trade certificate.
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in plant maintenance especially in earth moving equipment.
- Must be a self-starter and able to work under massive pressure.
- Must be physically fit to work a 12-hour shift.
- Ability to diagnose faults in plant equipment and read schematics.
- Mining experience will also be an added advantage.
Other requirements:
- Police Clearance Certificate
- Medical fitness Certificate.
Competencies:
- Demonstrate awareness of customer/client service.
- Ability to apply fundamental principles of diesel mechanics, engines, equipment & maintenance practices.
- Basic understanding of time management principles & practices.
- Demonstrate stress management ability.
- Team spirit – must be able to apply the basic principles and best practices.
