Faces & Voices of Recovery is a national advocacy organization based in Washington, D.C. working to mobilize, organize and rally the millions of Americans in recovery from addiction, their families, friends and allies in a campaign to end discrimination and achieve a just response to addiction as a public health crisis. We have an immediate opening for an experienced Development Associate.

The Development Associate will perform the daily activities of Faces & Voices of Recovery’s development programs and assist in the goals and strategy execution for all fundraising campaigns. The Development Associate will maintain a prospect portfolio to optimize fundraising opportunities. This role also will plan and implement a membership program, marketing programs and special events to maximize prospect/donor engagement.

Responsibilities and Duties

Review and oversee donor/prospect acknowledgment system including thank you-letters, phone calls, other types of acknowledgements.

  • Develop and implement systems to support fundraising strategies to advance Faces & Voices of Recovery’s mission and promote advocacy efforts.
  • Manage development calendar activity and systems to track and pace current, future, pending solicitations and relationship-building activity.
  • Facilitate outreach and follow-up of donors and prospects by leadership, including supporting scheduling of meetings, phone calls, and travel, as needed.
  • Manage donor correspondence including requests for information, general communication, and thank you notes.
  • Assist in meetings and other updates to foundations, donors, and prospective donors.
  • Draft and prepare grant proposals, reports, and related materials.
  • Staff exhibit table at conferences occasionally.

Additional Specific project responsibilities

  • Answer phone and emails and respond to requests for information and resources
  • Maintain project files in online file storage system
  • Host all virtual meetings through the GoToMeeting platform
  • Update website as needed
  • Create and distribute marketing materials
  • Schedule conference calls and meetings; record meeting notes
  • Ensure timely and clear communication for all matters related to the project
  • Assist with collecting project data and preparing reports
  • Coordinate staff travel and event logistics
  • Other administrative duties

Qualifications & Skillsets

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree
  • 2-3 years of experience implementing fundraising strategies for foundation and individual support
  • Proven ability to create a project plan, set ambitious goals, and achieve them
  • Proven systems orientation and experience in donor database management
  • Experience with Salesforce.com a plus
  • Excellent written (research, analysis, and editing), verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Understanding of and commitment to maintaining the confidential nature of fundraising efforts and donor information
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple priorities in fast-paced environment
  • Comfort working independently, as well as a commitment to working within a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience working with email marketing programs
  • Superior internet research skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and written/oral communication skills
  • Project management experience required
  • Experience in remote work and virtual platforms

This is a full-time home-based position with an annual starting salary of $50,000 with incentives. Faces & Voices of Recovery offers generous leave and health benefits.
