Overview:

The Desktop Support Engineering position is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the enterprise desktop environment. Responsibilities include assisting in the engineering of the standard desktop platform, design and implementation of the desktop imaging solution and system lifecycle management, application packaging, compatibility and deployment testing, hardware management and support using vendor provided tools. Additionally, this role is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving desktop/platform related issues and providing third level operational support. Candidates must be self-starters who possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing the highest quality client service are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement advance IT infrastructure technology as required. Understand business requirements and translate them to technical specifications; develop project plans, procure resources, monitor progress, and provide regular status reports to IT management.
  • Functions as the primary technical liaison between Infrastructure and other IT teams, vendors, partners, as well as the business to design Desktop/Infrastructure solutions
  • Will be involved with the architecture, design, implementation, and maintenance of the enterprise desktop environment
  • Monitor the performance of the company’s desktop infrastructure and make suggestions for improving efficiency.
  • Evaluate applications and software patches for desktop applications to see if they will solve desktop issues or vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain and enforce up-to-date industry standards and best practices that ensures the integrity and operations of the desktop environment and its supporting back-end systems
  • Research, recommend, and implement solutions to improve and keep current the desktop experience
  • Requires good judgement to define and accomplish goals while performing a variety of complicated tasks and leading/directing the work of others.

Key Relationships:

  • Desktop Engineering, Infrastructure, Global Desktop Support as well as various other IT Groups; occasionally end users.

Qualifications:

Within this corporate IT environment, you will be required to have:

  • 5+ years of IT experience
  • 2+ years of experience with SCCM and Microsoft Endpoint Manager Intune
  • SCCM experience in Application packaging and deploying to multiple geographic locations with more than 1500 end points.
  • Excellent desktop hardware and software diagnostic capabilities
  • Mobile Device Management
  • MAC Administration
  • VB and PowerShell scripting
  • Knowledge of network security practices
  • Active directory configurations and architecture
  • VMware knowledge is advantageous.
  • Excellent problem-solving, multitasking skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability and willingness to work outside of normal and traditional hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
  • CompTIA A+ Certification
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
