Job Summary

Reporting to the Principal, the incumbent shall act as an academic administrator of the school and supervise Heads of Department (HODs) and teachers. The successful candidate will perform his/her teaching duties as assigned by the Principal and will deputize the Principal as and when necessary.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for pupils’ discipline and performance and advise the Principal on appropriate action to take.
  • Check teachers’ preparation books, record books, schemes of work, and class registers on a monthly basis, providing necessary support, guidance, and assistance where required.
  • Chair the disciplinary committee handling pupils’ disciplinary cases.
  • Develop and maintain a system for record-keeping of pupils’ performance.
  • Prepare annual programmes for school activities, meetings, and assessments.
  • Plan, coordinate, control, administer, evaluate, and report on learners’ academic progress.
  • Facilitate the development and production of teaching and learning materials.
  • Mentor less experienced teachers.

Job Specification

Deputy Principal (Secondary) – Level 1, Grade L7a

Applicants must possess one of the following qualifications and experience combinations:

  • Master of Education (M.Ed.) or equivalent qualification, plus five (5) years of teaching experience and at least three (3) years as Head of Department (HOD);

OR

  • Bachelor of Education Honours (B.Ed Hons) / Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), plus seven (7) years of teaching experience and at least four (4) years as Head of Department (HOD);

OR

  • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent qualification, plus five (5) years’ experience as Senior Teacher I and at least four (4) years as Head of Department (HOD).

Salary Scale

Deputy Principal (Secondary) – L7a

Salary Range: M235,752.00 – M295,860.00 per annum
