The Deputy Head supports the Director & Head, Secretary-General’s Office, in the management and delivery of the Secretary-General’s official programme, ensuring that the Secretary-General is enabled in both logistical and substantive terms to carry out his/her work in an efficient and effective manner.

The post-holder will be involved in policy and liaison, including monitoring developments internationally and within the Secretariat, undertaking specific projects, and preparing draft correspondence and briefing material. You will also have involvement in outreach and representation, including networking with governments, interacting with officials in relevant partner international organizations and civil society groups, supporting the Director & Head, Secretary-General’s Office, in liaising with the offices of The Queen and of the Prince of Wales, and representing the Secretary-General or the Director & Head, Secretary-General’s Office at meetings and other official events

To succeed in this role, you will need to have a degree in International relations, Public Administration, Business Administration, Economics, Law, Political Science, or other related field. At least 10 years’ professional experience in management positions, preferably in the field of international relations and at least 10 years’ experience in the formulation and execution of public policy. Experience of working in or with international and intergovernmental organisations and experience of public diplomacy and advocacy would be beneficial.

You must be able to operate effectively in our multicultural setting and be a national of a Commonwealth country.
