We have an outstanding opportunity for a Deputy Digital Content Editor who will play a leadership role in our Communications Division.

The post-holder (reporting to the Digital Content Editor of the Communications Division) will help create and implement the Secretariat’s overall digital strategy as well as social media and multimedia strategies. The post-holder will be responsible for the Secretariat’s web and social media platforms, including creating, co-ordinating and disseminating the Secretariat’s work and key messages across all digital channels. It addition, the scope will include a) overseeing and coordinating web development activities b) project managing various aspects of web development and multimedia production. Experience gained in the international sector will be an advantage.

To be considered, you should have at least six years’ relevant work experience of digital communications, strongly preferred within an international development organisation or intergovernmental organisation, including creating, editing and proofreading engaging copy for the website and social media. Strong experience with working on high profile government/political social media accounts and websites and within a political communications environment. Relevant UX, HTML and web design knowledge, development and implementation as well as knowledge of accessibility and readability best practices.

Strong project management skills, especially managing digital and multimedia agencies.

The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate:

  • Proven ability to manage the Commonwealth’s social media presences, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn. Source and forward-plan all social media content by gathering ongoing input from divisional colleagues.
  • proven ability to lead a team;
  • ability to establish and maintain productive working partnerships with designated internal and external stakeholders;
  • excellent oral and written communication; and
  • a high degree of tact, diplomacy and discretion.
