Jhpiego also partners with organizations from the community to the national levels, building sustainable, local capacity through advocacy, policy development, health workforce strengthening and quality and performance improvement approaches.

In Lesotho in particular, Jhpiego has been operating since 2012 through supporting the government of Lesotho in delivering health services to the Basotho people. Jhpiego’s portfolio currently focuses on HIV/TB and COVID epidemic response and includes a range of HIV and COVID focused programming and research efforts including KHANYA (VMMC and PrEP), THEBE (TB Contact Tracing and COVID Response), RISE (COVID Case Management and Vaccine Support), MOSAIC (biomedical HIV preventi on including Dapivirine Ring Introduction), CUT-TB (RCT) and various other small studies.

Jhpiego is looking for suitable candidate for the below vacant position;

Data Manager (1)

(1 year)

  • Responsibilities
  • In collaboration with the MERL team, support program learning and research agenda
  • Prepare study protocols and process ethical clearance from relevant local agency, Johns Hopkins University and donor, as appropriate
  • Lead the conduct of research and evaluations
  • Develop qualitative and quantitative data collection methodologies and instruments
  • Develop supervision and reporting systems related to data collection
  • Support the development of data quality assurance and study monitoring systems
  • Train and supervise data collectors and data clerks
  • Perform data analysis, management and report preparation in consultation with the Senior M&E and Research Advisor
  • Provide training and mentoring for staff on qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Support learning through presentations, joint M&E activities and ensuring use of results of monitoring for action
  • Assist with abstract writing for relevant national and international conferences
  • Ensure data collection tools are kept up to date on all devices
  • Manage permissions for data collection forms
  • Revise data collection forms including translations in consultation with stakeholders
  • Work with field teams to clean data and resolve issues
  • Run reports, trouble shoot and document issues.
  • Set up and maintain participant tracking systems, based on study guidance
  • Promote and support the dissemination of MOSAIC data to national stakeholders
  • Provide input and be actively engaged with the MOH on national systems for monitoring HIV prevention programs
  • Support M&E capacity-building activities with Jhpiego staff , MOH and relevant stakeholders
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications, Experience and Requirements

  • University degree in public health, sociology, demography, statistics, or other social science area; Master’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience working in research field, public health experience with a focus on HIV prevention is an added advantage
  • Experience in data collection, processing, and analysis; database experience a plus
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and statistical applications
  • Experience in implementing qualitative and quantitative research
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to write research reports for publication
