The bi-national Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP) of the Kingdom of Lesotho (KOL) and the Republic of South Africa (RSA) is aimed at harnessing the water resources of the highlands of Lesotho for the mutual advantage of Lesotho and the Republic of South Africa.
The Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) was set up to implement and operate that part of the LHWP that falls within the borders of Lesotho. LHDA is to embark on Phase II of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP), a multi-billion-rand Phase involving large-scale civil engineering and socio-environmental aspects. In ensuring that it achieves its mandate, the LHDA places emphasis on its values of caring, professionalism, execution, teamwork, communication, and customer focus.

SUMMARY JOB PURPOSE
To support the Phase II planning and implementation programme by:
» Managing and maintaining databases from Phase II consultants/service providers including socio-economic, livelihood restoration, social development and labour recruitment databases; and development of consolidated databases as required.
» Assisting the Public Health Programme by reviewing and enhancing the Health Impact Assessment, Public Health Action Plan and Health Management Information System within the project area.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), or a related field, with at least five (5) years of relevant experience in developing and maintaining databases and geo-databases, ideally involving social and health data, as well as using tablets for paperless data collection, transfer, and analysis in a similar environment.
- Post qualification with quantitative data analysis in the dissertation or coursework, proficiency in MS Access or similar database systems, and familiarity with relevant GIS programs, such as MapInfo, will be an added advantage.
