The Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) was set up to implement and operate that part of the LHWP that falls within the borders of Lesotho. LHDA is to embark on Phase II of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP), a multi-billion-rand Phase involving large scale civil engineering and socio-environmental aspects. 1. DAM SAFETY TECHNICIAN TRAINEE

JOB PURPOSE:
To monitor the transfer tunnels, intake & dam structures, access adits, and associated tunnel instrumentation through instruments, surveys and visual inspection, as well as maintenance of instruments.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Diploma in Civil Engineering with at least three (3) years’ experience in dam safety and surveillance work or related, in a similar environment.
Essential Requirements of the post:
• Good working knowledge of structures, design characteristics, geology, engineering materials and hydrology of the area.
• Good working knowledge of the dam safety programme requirements, including inspection methods and procedures.
• Familiarity with calibration, repair and maintenance of specialised instrumentation pertaining to dam safety and surveillance.
• Capable of accurately interpreting complex schematic and wiring diagrams.
