JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Park Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for documentation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage resources; identification, conservation, preservation and safeguarding; promotion or presentation or exhibition of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage resources. The incumbent will be responsible for establishing relevant associations, trainings and promotion of potential artists and artisans. The incumbent is also charged with developing national calendar of relevant events including exhibitions and art education for dissemination to the general public. She or he will perform their duties in collaboration with the relevant ministries and private organizations.

1.0 SUPERVISION AND DOCUMENTATION OF TANGIBLE AND INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE RESOURCES
1.1 Supervises the continuous identification of the tangible and intangible heritage resources within the core and buffer zone of the Park through public gatherings and stakeholder meetings for documentation purposes
1.2 Supervises the recording of tangible and intangible heritage resources through the use of a standardized documentation form in collaboration with the local authorities and the local communities on an ongoing basis for consistency
1.3 Supervises the continuous compilation of an inventory of the park’s core and buffer zone heritage resourc ources including artists and artisans.

2.0 SUPERVISION OF PRESERVATION AND CONSERVATION OF TANGIBLE AND INTANGIBLE HERITAGE RESOURCES
2.1 Supervises the identification and assessment of tangible heritage resources in need of conservation including elements of intangible heritage resources fading away on an ongoing basis.
2.2 Supervises the development of conservation plans in collaboration with the stakeholders to ensure mutual understanding, support and adherence
2.3 Undertakes preventive conservation measures on an ongoing basis to ensure sustainability of the tangible and intangible heritage resources
2.4 Conducts awareness programmes to educate the public on preservation and conservation of the tangible and intangible heritage resources
2.5 Monitors the implementation of the conservation plans regularly to ensure compliance.

3.0 PROMOTION/PRESENTATION/EXHIBITION OF TANGIBLE AND INTANGIBLE HERITAGE RESOURCES

3.1 Supervises and develops exhibitions, promotion and outreach programmers quarterly for sustainability, education, promotion and marketing of heritage resources
3.2 Develops fund raising programmes through partnerships with public, private and voluntary sector when need arises to enhance exhibitions
3.3 Holds exhibitions when need arises to educate, promote and ensure sustainability of heritage resources
3.4 Collaborates with media when need arises to promote the heritage resources found within the Park and its buffer zone
3.5 Produces quarterly information paper for distribution to the public at national, regional and international levels
3.6 Develops new ways to present the attraction or collection to maximize visitor’s enjoyment and understanding

4.0 ESTABLISHING RELEVANT ASSOCIATIONS IN LINE WITH CONSERVATION AND MANAGEMENT OF TANGIBLE AND INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE RESOURCES
4.1 Identifies and establishes Heritage Conservation Associations at local level (Buffer Zone)
4.2 Facilitates signing of MOU with interested and affected parties in conservation and preservation of heritage resources.
4.3 Facilitates periodic training of Associations in matters of conservation and management of cultural heritage
4.3 Facilitates implementation of roles and responsibilities of the Associations

5.0 SUPERVISION AND MANAGEMENT OF HERITAGE RESOURCES
5.1 Interprets and implements heritage resources legislation and policies including international conventions and guidelines to ensure mutual understanding support and adherence.
5.2. Provides advice and support to local arts and culture organizations seeking funding, resource and development opportunities.
5.3. Produces funding strategies through the preparation of funding bids, assist with monthly monitoring of the budget, and maximise internal and external funding support for the development the heritage fraternity.

6.0 JOB SPECIFICATION EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Studies/History/Cultural Post Graduate in Heritage Studies/Museum Studies/Archaeology/Anthropology/Heritage and Cultural Tourism, plus three (3) years’ experience in the relevant field.
OR
Studies/Cultural BA Degree in Heritage Studies/History/ Museum Studies/Archaeology/Anthropology/Heritage and Cultural Tourism, plus five (10) years’ experience in the relevant field.

RESPONSIBILITY
For Resource Controlled
Office equipment, office documents, researched material, artifacts and crafts. For Effect of Errors
The incumbent is responsible for documentation and management of the heritage and any errors that could result in under or over reporting of Historical events.

8.0 EFFORTS
Mental Effort
Exercises mental effort when dealing with communities, schools and the public in general
Physical Effort
Exercises physical effort when walking long distance during site visits and community consultations as many of the sites are very remote and cannot be reached by transport.
Emotional Effort
Exercises emotional effort when dealing with the public who are sometimes difficult to control and sometimes do not come at the scheduled time hence cause inconveniences.

Working Conditions
Unfavourable conditions especially when he / she has to walk long distances to visit sites that are remote and difficult to reach. She/he even teach visitors of different level of understanding and behaviour.
Works for long hours and on weekends. Also has to walk long distances as most of the heritage sites are located in areas which are difficult to reach.
